Graduated in Chemical Engineering with a degree in Environmental Engineering (2008) from University of Castilla-La Mancha. She has more than 12 years of experience in the engineering sector in different fields of the engineering industry. She began her professional career in detailed engineering projects for thermo-solar plants for 4 years. Since 2019 she has been working at the CNH2 and currently belongs to the Applied Engineering department where she is working on projects dedicated to hydrogen technologies.

Hydrogen and railway – European Project FCH2RAIL

Francisco has a degree in Electro technical Engineer - Systems and computers. His career began at CP (1995), developing activities in the coordination and implementation of railway signalling projects, in the suburban area of Lisbon, Sintra line and North-South Axis line. After 2003 he developed activities in the field of complementary safety systems. Since 2010 he has developed activity in the management and coordination of innovation projects, of national and international scope with active participation in several of them.

Carmen Rangel is Research Coordinator, now retired, at the National Laboratory for Energy and Geology in Portugal. She is involved in Advanced Research in Hydrogen technologies addressing Energy challenges in the field of new materials for hydrogen Production and Storage, design of Catalysts and key components  for efficient/cost effective electrolysers and fuel cells as well as new technologies for the synthesis of solar fuels, including CO2 co-electrolysis.

Full Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Cantabria (Spain). Rui Costa Neto is an academic/engineer with more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry and academia. He has a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a Post-Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering (Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Técnico de Lisboa, IST). The role of ammonia as zero-carbon fuel and hydrogen carrier in Europe

Kevin graduated from University of Twente (The Netherlands) in 2018, with a degree in Chemical & Process Engineering. He continued research at the University of Twente with a PhD project on ‘Plasma-catalytic ammonia synthesis’, from which he graduated in 2022. During the final year of his PhD research, he already worked part-time in his current roles as Innovation Engineer at Proton Ventures and as Technology Manager at the Ammonia Energy Association (AEA), with the aim to accelerate the responsible use of low carbon ammonia as a zero-carbon fuel and hydrogen carrier.

Major findings of the HyTunnel-CS project for inherently safer use of hydrogen vehicles in underground traffic systems

Reader in Hydrogen Safety at HySAFER Centre of Ulster University, UK. Expertise area is development of fundamentally based engineering and numerical models for assessment of hydrogen hazards to aid hydrogen safety engineering. He contributed to a number of European and UK funded projects including the coordinated by HySAFER Centre pre-normative research project HyTunnel-CS on safety of hydrogen vehicles in underground infrastructure (2019-2023).

The concept and validations of the breakthrough safety technology of self-venting (TPRD-less) hydrogen storage tanks

Dr Sergii Kashkarov is a Lecturer in Hydrogen Safety at HySAFER, Ulster University. He joined HySAFER team as a PhD student, studying fire resistance on onboard high-pressure storage tanks for hydrogen-powered vehicles. He is a co-inventor of the safety technology for composite hydrogen storage vessels (European Application No 18706224.5, 2019). He has been leading several research projects on this breakthrough safety technology. His expertise is the modelling of hydrogen storage thermal behaviour in a fire, combustion, heat transfer, blast waves from high-pressure tank ruptures, hazard distances, etc.

Hydrogen flame stability limits

Mina Kazemi has been involved in the validation of hydrogen flame stability limits using CFD modelling since she joined the HySAFER team as a researcher at Ulster University in 2020. Her work was presented at the international conference on fire and explosion hazards. Her career in CFD modelling began in 2015 during her BSc program in Mechanical Engineering and continued in the field of Wildfire till she obtained her MSc in mechanical engineering-energy conversion in 2019.

The unique CFD model of refueling through the entire HRS equipment

MSc in Automotive Engineering, PhD student in Hydrogen Safety at Ulster University since 2020. Member of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training “Sustainable Hydrogen” (SusHy). Hazhir is now focusing on the development and validation of the first of its type CFD model for the simulation of complex heat and mass transfer processes during refuelling through the entire chain of equipment at HRS from a high-pressure tank through piping, pressure control valve, precooler, breakaway, hose, nozzle, etc. to onboard storage tanks.

Pressure recovery phenomenon and process dynamics during liquid ammonia tank depressurization

Srinivas Sivaraman is a researcher at Ulster University's HySAFER Centre who focuses in ammonia and hydrogen safety. He contributes to the EPSRC's Sustainable Hydrogen Centre for Doctoral Training's research funding. Through the investigation of inherently safer design strategies and quantitative risk analysis, Srinivas' research emphasises primarily on the safe use of ammonia as a hydrogen carrier.

Donatella Cirrone is a Research Associate in Hydrogen Safety at the HySAFER Centre, Ulster University. Her research focuses on analytical and numerical modelling of phenomena relevant to hydrogen safety. She has been involved in several activities and pre-normative research projects addressing the hazards and inherently safer use of hydrogen systems, such as PRESLHY and ELVHYS projects on the safe use and transfer of liquid hydrogen.

The Future of Low Temperature Electrolysis: Challenges & Solutions

Professor of Fuel Cell Technology at University of Stuttgart and the Head of the Electrochemical Energy Technology Department at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stuttgart, Germany. 

Research areas: Electrochemical energy conversion and storage, in particular polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and solid oxide (SOC) fuel cells and electrolysis; Advanced Li and Mg batteries, and system design. Author and coauthor of about 300 peer reviewed papers (h-index 48). He received the Hellmuth Fischer medal (Dechema) in 2009 and the Ertl prize 2014 for his scientific work.

Master in Electrical and Computer Engineering by Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (2011). His proactivity and ambition to learn more combined with the passion for electric mobility and systems integration, took him to CaetanoBus. Head of the electric area and Hardware/Fuelcell team, and leader of the project hydrogen-powered Caetano electric bus.

Tiago gained particular interest in the different applications of hydrogen in mobility, being responsible for Caetanobus's new platform/vehicles.

Hydrogen for mobility applications

Working in the H2 industry for 7 years, Matthieu started his career by TotalEnergies in Berlin, supporting the implementation of the German Hydrogen Refueling Stations network. He then worked during 3 years by ENGIE, in Paris, focusing on the origination of projects to supply H2 to public buses. Matthieu joined Galp a year and half ago and is in charge of the development of the H2 for mobility applications.
